Virtual Blog Tours – Not Just For Authors

By Nikki Leigh

Virtual book tours are gaining popularity with authors who want an alternative to traveling to promote their books.  However, virtual tours are not just for authors. Virtual tours are becoming very prevalent in the real estate industry and offer great ways to show off properties for sale. In these tough economic times, people want to find more economical ways to get the word out to the masses about their products and services. More people are using the internet to search and to shop – they have learned the internet is a great way to save time and money. So, who can benefit from virtual tours and how would they get started.

One of the first things each business person needs to do when they look for ways to promote is to determine which people make up their target market. In other words, who needs and/or wants the product or service you offer?  The most effective promotion that I’ve found in my years of promotional work is when you deliver a finely developed message to your target market. The most beautifully crafted promotional message has little impact when presented to the wrong people.

For people who are not familiar with a virtual tour, I’ll provide some details. There are many different ways to do a virtual tour, but I find it most effective to include a variety of media and print options. In the 21st century, Web 2.0 offers many great ways to get in touch with your target audience. We can reach out to potential buyers and clients and interact with them through these elements of Web 2.0.

In a virtual tour, I work with blog owners, newsletter and ezine owners or editors, and internet radio show hosts. We can use podcasts that are relevant to the product or service, articles which are coordinated to product details, along with audio and video clips that promote these products. In the promotional books I’ve written, I tell people that their promotion is only limited by the level of creativity used. The creativity aspect of promotional work is one of the things that attracted me to this sort of work.

With this targeted approach, any product or service, can be promoted on the internet and can be promoted through a virtual blog tour. Ask yourself these questions:

bullet

·        Do you use a website, a blog, social networks or any other online option to promote your product or service?

bullet

·        Are these things that you want to use, but you need to learn more about how to use them?

bullet

·        Do you have a way for people to order your product or service on the internet?

bullet

·        If not, this is something that can greatly increase your revenue from selling products and it is also a great way to build your mailing list.

bullet

·        Do you want to reach people who need and want your product or service?

If you aren’t currently using these options to promote your product or service, it would be beneficial to discuss the possibilities with a qualified publicist who is knowledgeable about Web 2.0. The options listed above can be utilized by most business people and you could be astounded at the possibilities that are available with the click of a mouse. People who aren’t currently using the internet to promote their services can start to build a great foundation for future promotion and begin to create an online presence through a virtual tour. Imagine, you can promote your product and service to a worldwide audience.

This is a quote from a client about the experiences she had in her virtual tours. "The Virtual Blog Tour is the ideal way to promote your books. But it is so much more than that. As the Internet has grown and changed over the last few years, so has the basic concept of the Virtual Blog Tour. When you're on this tour you have the opportunity to connect with so many people on a level that is just phenomenal. And it goes on into perpetuity. When I was working with Nikki Leigh on my first few book tours, she came up with so many other creative ways, not just to promote or sell books, but CDs, DVDs, and other products and concepts. When you're on tour, you aren't just promoting your products. You're representing them and building your brand as well. There is no limit to how successful you can be when you are willing to expand your concept of everything."  - Dyan Garris.

Are you ready to take your business and your promotion to a Web 2.0 level? If so, I highly recommend that you look into the options that are available through a virtual blog tour.
